Tuesday Truths 2018 Edition v7

So many reasons to celebrate because not only is it Mardi Gras, it’s also GALentine’s Day! Having a sisterhood of women who are supportive of your work and collaborate to work on projects = AMAZING! I’m fortunate to also spend my volunteer time with the Women’s Information Network (WIN) and I’ll be doing a WIN 101 with them tonight, a perfect way to start my evening.

  • I’m thrilled to hear of the early ticket sales for Black Panther and I am eagerly anticipating seeing it on the big screen. The question of who’s allowed to wear the Black Panther costume has come up and I’m torn on the implications. Here’s an article from the NYT that delves into whether this is cultural appropriation or not. My personal opinion is that I want see more Black Panthers from kids of color as well as those who are white – role models should be inspired from all races, ethnic backgrounds & religions to be a diverse cross section.

  • Scheduling can be a conundrum, especially if your work revolves around someone else’s schedule. If you have the ability to control your schedule so that you can allocate time to do your most pressing work, build it into your calendar so that you can fully concentrate. I use Calendly to help me schedule appointments and that allows me to also block out time so that people automatically know when I’m unavailable. Here are some suggestions on how to create a schedule that will work for you.
